Dear Reader,

Welcome to the Chimera Compendium! You are always welcome here. My name is Arthur, and I am the founder of the website you currently find yourself on. I like to read, ask questions, think, and write. I want to spend more of my time doing these things, and I want to do them better. This website is my excuse and outlet to do each of these things. It serves as my portal to think about and write on life’s biggest and deepest questions - or at least the big and deep questions that I have about my life and about Life itself (see “Essays & Reflections”). I also write about my thoughts and insights from the books I have read or am currently reading (see “Book Reflections”). And I write short stories, flash fiction, and poems that I hope you find relatable, thought-provoking, and/or entertaining (see “Stories & Poems”).

Now I’m no Neil Gaiman, Donna Tartt, Socrates, Christy Anne Jones, Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, Joe Schmid, Alex O’Connor, Toni Morrison, Parker Settecase, Cal Newport, Jared Henderson, Henry David Thoreau, Dan Jones, Ursula K. Le Guin, John Green, Wendell Berry, and so on and so forth. I’m not a psychologist, theologian, philosopher, author, historian, or scientist. You get the picture. I’m just a guy with a Philosophy degree who needs an outlet for his soul. I don't want to live a life of quiet desperation any longer, always thirsting to do more, to be more but never actually taking the necessary steps to make that lemonade out of those sedentary lemons. Like the young men of Dead Poets Society, I want to suck the marrow out of life, and writing, reading, asking questions, and thinking deeply are just some of the ways I hope to achieve that.

So come, stay a while if you choose. I hope you get something out of the Chimera Compendium, but more importantly, and selfishly, I hope I do as well.

Sincerely,

Arthur
